Our Accounting Basics online course is an excellent introductory course to accounting, made up of 6 modules.  The opening 2 milestones explore basic principles, values and systems that guide and support financial services. These are then followed by 2 milestones that explore accounting systems; and how to balance deposits, withdrawals and journals.  Finally, the concluding milestones look at the preparation of journals, and the importance of banking safely.

Milestone 1 | Apply Accounting Principals

The opening milestone of this module introduces learners to the 5 key principles that guide good accounting practices. The milestone concludes with a brief comparison on cash and accrual accounting.

Balance Deposits Withdrawals and Journals course milestone 4

Milestone 4 | Balance Deposits Withdrawals and Journals

Throughout this milestone you will begin to explore some of the functions of accounting. These functions relate to the entry of credits and debits, the processing of petty cash, and raising invoices.

Finally, the preparation of journaling will be introduced in preparation for milestone 5.

Prepare Journals course milestone 5

Milestone 5 | Prepare Journals

The preparation of journals is an important responsibility of an accountant. This milestone introduces the 6 special journals that need to be prepared and reported, but before any journals can be processed they must be first authorised. The authorisation stage is explored in the final topic of this module.

Milestone 6 | Bank Safely

Transactional fraud is always something that an accountant needs to be aware of. It is a risk that needs constant monitoring, prioritization, and review to ensure that a business does not become a statistic of fraud. This milestone gives clear instruction as to how an accountant can bank safely and take the necessary precautions to identify and prevent fraud.
