Reaffirm Your Leadership Strengths

Is it time to conduct a health check on your current EQ (Emotional Quotient). Your ability to empathise with others, understand, control and express your own emotions, as well as assess others’ emotions can positively impact on your performance, relationships and growth.

Deep reflection and self-discovery can lead to a heightened awareness of your emotional state, and assist you in understanding the influence it can have on your performance, guiding your thinking and behaviours.

Identifying triggers, your own and those of others, and putting in motion a different response than the one you are currently transmitting is the first step in being accountable for your emotions.

Milestone 1 | Undertake personal performance review

Knowing what to do with all this information is the hard part – and this is where emotional intelligence comes in.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Determine workplace expectations
  • Apply Emotional Intelligence indicators
  • Review personal performance
  • Develop personal strategies

Milestone 2 | Influence employee behaviour

Perhaps one of the hardest things we do as leaders is ‘leading people’. Tasks are a bit easier as they don’t have ideas, opinions or issues. People, on the other hand, have plenty. This milestone introduces strategies to encourage people to start working together to get the job done.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Review individuals and teams
  • Communicate expectations
  • Use consultation methods
  • Develop individual and team strategies
  • Undertake performance review

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify conflicts

  • Determine problems

  • Apply policies and procedures

  •  Involve external networks

  • Facilitate resolutions
